Bobby East won his first USAC National Sprint Car Series feature of the 2009 season by dominating the field in the 100-lap "Glen Neibel Classic" at the quarter-mile Anderson Speedway. East set fast time in the No. 5 ClubSport/Klatt Enterprises/Ford Racing/Beast Chassis Beast and then went on to lead the final 89 laps en route to victory. East lapped everyone but second-place finisher Tracy Hines to become the event's tenth different winner in ten years.
"We've always had a good record here at Anderson so I knew we were going to be strong here this weekend," East said. "Evan (Avart, crew chief) and the guys gave me an awesome car. I knew we were going to have a good shot at it when we qualified as strong as we did, but this is a tough little place. Anyone can make a mistake and end up ruining your day. To come here and see it run 100 laps without a caution flag is pretty incredible. I've been in 20-lap races that took longer to finish than the race did here tonight."
Next up for Bobby East is the traditional "Night Before the 500" for the USAC National Midget Car Series at O'Reilly Raceway Park at Indianapolis, scheduled for Sautrday night May 23.
